Any way of turning a laptop on, without pressing power button?
I have an HP Compaq 615. The ribbon cable broke, on the power button, and now I can't turn it on. Any way of turning it on, without a power button?
The only signal sent to the computer to turn it on is through the power switch.
However, when you touch the power button, all you are doing is completing a 5v+ circuit. You could, try to find the negative and positive lead on the ribbon cable, and then touch them together to power up the computer. A little solder and a soldering iron would do the trick. Or, strip the rubber from the individual leads and "tie" them together.
